History
Clark Kerr
(1911-2003)
After getting his Masters at Stanford, Mr. Kerr earned his Ph.D. in economics from UC Berkeley in 1939. During the McCarthy Era, UC Berkeley professors were required to sign an anti-communist loyalty oath, but Mr. Kerr defended those who refused to sign. He became the school's first chancellor in 1952, and served on Eisenhower's Commission on Intergovernmental Relations. He then became the twelfth UC President, and oversaw the expansion to San Diego, Irvine, and Santa Cruz. Though dismissed from this position in 1967 due to perceived leniency toward anti-war protesters, he has a dormitory and several sporting facilities named after him at UC Berkeley.

History
Clark Kerr
(1911-2003)
After getting his Masters at Stanford, Mr. Kerr earned his Ph.D. in economics from UC Berkeley in 1939. During the McCarthy Era, UC Berkeley professors were required to sign an anti-communist loyalty oath, but Mr. Kerr defended those who refused to sign. He became the school's first chancellor in 1952, and served on Eisenhower's Commission on Intergovernmental Relations. He then became the twelfth UC President, and oversaw the expansion to San Diego, Irvine, and Santa Cruz. Though dismissed from this position in 1967 due to perceived leniency toward anti-war protesters, he has a dormitory and several sporting facilities named after him at UC Berkeley.

Charity
Charity: Prevent Blindness. The Northern California chapters in San Francisco and Redding have screened over one million individuals for vision since 1966. Recently, they partnered with fuseproject to launch See Well to Learn, which provides free eye exams and glasses to Bay Area students.
