Since 1986, this family-owned spot in Oakland's Chinatown has been serving up tasty Cambodian dishes. And while normally I'm exploratory on subsequent visits to a restaurant, here I stick with one dish: traop ang. It's a sauteed eggplant dish with minced pork and shrimp. So good. Plenty of other options sound good - stuffed chicken wings, beef skewers, fried banana ice cream. 4-1/2 stars - 480 reviews

Hugh Dimond
(1830-1896)
The Irishman immigrated to New York when he was only 14, then sailed to San Francisco via Panama once the Gold Rush struck. From his proceeds, he opened a general store and a wholesale liquor business with two partners. His investment into 267 acres of land in the Oakland foothills is now known as the Dimond District, with Dimond Canyon Park spanning Sausal Creek. He outlived his two wives and gave most of his wealth to his five children.

Charity: Rocky Mountain Wild. This organization focuses on the biological diversity of the Rocky Mountain West. History
Hugh Dimond
(1830-1896)
The Irishman immigrated to New York when he was only 14, then sailed to San Francisco via Panama once the Gold Rush struck. From his proceeds, he opened a general store and a wholesale liquor business with two partners. His investment into 267 acres of land in the Oakland foothills is now known as the Dimond District, with Dimond Canyon Park spanning Sausal Creek. He outlived his two wives and gave most of his wealth to his five children.

Charity
Charity: Rocky Mountain Wild. This organization focuses on the biological diversity of the Rocky Mountain West. This means monitoring wildlife and native plants, advocating for preservation in development-rich zones, and implementing solutions for wildlife crossing routes.
