San Francisco-based Twitter announced that its CEO of five years - Dick Costolo - will step down next month. Co-founder Jack Dorsey will serve as interim CEO while simultaneously leading Square. In the first quarter, Twitter had 302 million monthly active users and a net loss of $162 million.

It's a very good Korean hole-in-the-wall in the outer Parkside area. The wait is probably the only downside, as the place itself is fairly small (maybe seating for up to 35). The entrees come with either a free set of mackerel or tofu soup to share, along with the requisite banchan appetizers of kimchi and other tasty nibbles. Highly recommend the bibimbap. Many tables around us seem to like the seafood pancake and chicken wings - maybe the next visit!

For over seven decades, this out-by-the-ocean dive bar has quietly existed to serve patrons mostly from its neighborhood but with the intention to offer a beverage to anyone who steps in. Gotta love a place with a fireplace, a big screen showing the Giants game, free food (pasta salad and chocolate cake on the night I visited), and ample parking. And, it's refreshingly light on the hipsters and tech buses.

A gift from the Dutch over a century ago, the Golden Gate Park windmills fell into a state of disrepair by World War II. A lengthy project involving a Dutch architectural firm finally restored the Murphy Windmill for a big re-opening in 2012. It now stands operational on the western edge of the park, nestled near soccer fields and Ocean Beach.

Underserved Bay Area youths in the 4th-6th grades are given free outdoor education trips at the Optimist Youth Camp, a 100-acre site in San Gregorio. They learn cheese making (and have it for supper), take hikes in the redwoods, explore tidepools, and harvest enough organic vegetables for the evening salad.

San Francisco-based Twitter announced that its CEO of five years - Dick Costolo - will step down next month. Co-founder Jack Dorsey will serve as interim CEO while simultaneously leading Square. In the first quarter, Twitter had 302 million monthly active users and a net loss of $162 million.

It's a very good Korean hole-in-the-wall in the outer Parkside area. The wait is probably the only downside, as the place itself is fairly small (maybe seating for up to 35). The entrees come with either a free set of mackerel or tofu soup to share, along with the requisite banchan appetizers of kimchi and other tasty nibbles. Highly recommend the bibimbap. Many tables around us seem to like the seafood pancake and chicken wings - maybe the next visit!

For over seven decades, this out-by-the-ocean dive bar has quietly existed to serve patrons mostly from its neighborhood but with the intention to offer a beverage to anyone who steps in. Gotta love a place with a fireplace, a big screen showing the Giants game, free food (pasta salad and chocolate cake on the night I visited), and ample parking. And, it's refreshingly light on the hipsters and tech buses.

Murphy Windmill

A gift from the Dutch over a century ago, the Golden Gate Park windmills fell into a state of disrepair by World War II. A lengthy project involving a Dutch architectural firm finally restored the Murphy Windmill for a big re-opening in 2012. It now stands operational on the western edge of the park, nestled near soccer fields and Ocean Beach.

Underserved Bay Area youths in the 4th-6th grades are given free outdoor education trips at the Optimist Youth Camp, a 100-acre site in San Gregorio. They learn cheese making (and have it for supper), take hikes in the redwoods, explore tidepools, and harvest enough organic vegetables for the evening salad.
