A vacant parking lot under the new BART extension to Oakland Airport is often used by owners who dump unwanted pets. Just around the corner is an East Bay SPCA facility. The property developer has submitted an application to the city for three new leases for national tenants.

It first opened as a lesbian-owned bar in Oakland in 1962, and moved to its present location in 1976. Distraught neighbors left many of the items, currently found in the massive outdoor garden, in front of the bar as a protest. The interior has a jukebox, small pool table, and a fireplace. After the Lexington Club closes sometime next year, this will pretty much be the last one standing in the Bay Area.

With the support of area tech firms such as eBay and Cisco, Good Karma Bikes hires people in recovery and trains them to refurbish bicycles. Over the past five years, the program has served 11,000 clients and given away over 1,000 bicycles. Nearly 90% of their clients are homeless, unemployed, and reliant on their bike for transportation.

It first opened as a lesbian-owned bar in Oakland in 1962, and moved to its present location in 1976. Distraught neighbors left many of the items, currently found in the massive outdoor garden, in front of the bar as a protest. The interior has a jukebox, small pool table, and a fireplace. After the Lexington Club closes sometime next year, this will pretty much be the last one standing in the Bay Area.

With the support of area tech firms such as eBay and Cisco, Good Karma Bikes hires people in recovery and trains them to refurbish bicycles. Over the past five years, the program has served 11,000 clients and given away over 1,000 bicycles. Nearly 90% of their clients are homeless, unemployed, and reliant on their bike for transportation.
