If we lived in a world without tears
How would bruises find
The face to lie upon
How would scars find skin
To etch themselves into
How would broken find the bones

News of the Week
Yelp, a consumer review website headquartered in San Francisco, is able to manipulate reviews in exchange for advertising, following a unanimous ruling by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
"Any implicit threat by Yelp to remove positive reviews absent payment for advertising was not (legally) wrongful."
-- Judge Marsha Berzon, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
"I've
got hundreds of people who have called me with this problem: When they
stopped advertising with Yelp, their good reviews got stripped out....
This is extortion in any other setting."
-- Lawrence Murray, plaintiff attorney
"For
years, fringe commentators have accused Yelp of altering business
ratings for money. Yelp has never done this, and individuals making such
claims are either misinformed or, more typically, have an ax to grind."
-- Aaron Schur, Yelp litigation director

Yelp
You
know you might be in culinary trouble if the fourth-most Yelped
restaurant in town is an In-N-Out Burger. So when this hole-in-the-wall
promised Thai-Laotian food, I was sold. And it delivered. The angel
wings and curry pops are tasty, filling appetizers. The main dishes are
on the mild side, so ask for peppers in fish sauce to jazz it up. Very
reasonably priced. 4-1/2 stars - 106 reviews

Yelp
A
recent addition to the Redding microbrew scene, this taproom is
unfortunately situated in a sanitized mini-mall setting near a Safeway
and Togo's. But the beer - particularly the Hexagenia IPA - is fairly
priced and quite good. Sit out on the patio to soak in the warm summer
and fall nights. 4-1/2 stars - 31 reviews
