Drake's Bay Oyster Co. officially closed to the public after decades of serving and canning fresh oysters. The National Park Service takes over the lease due to reported environmental damage, and about 30 employees and a million oysters have been released.

Please note that this venue closes relatively early by bar standards (but not by tasting room standards). You'll find a full mix of easy-to-find and more obscure options. The Perseids peak during the period of the Supermoon, so astronomers advise skygazers to check out the annual show outside the full moon window. This full moon is special, as it's the closest the moon will be to Earth all year. Moonrise is about 8pm, with the peak brightness around midnight.
