Kate O. Sessions
(1857-1940)
Born in San Francisco, Ms. Sessions moved next to Lake Merritt at the age of six, and studied natural science at UC Berkeley. She then left for San Diego in 1883, and began amassing nurseries and growing fields in Coronado, Pacific Beach, and Mission Hills. Her deal with the City of San Diego allowed to her to plant 100 trees annually in Balboa Park and 300 trees annually around the city. She also helped co-found the oldest garden club in southern California. An elementary school and a park both are named after her in the Pacific Beach area.

Another reason to party. Dublin hosts a parade and festival in its civic center, complete with a tea cottage and three stages of Irish music. San Francisco's parade winds down Market Street, while a FiDi block party outside the Royal Exchange features Wonder Bread 5. The Irish Cultural Center hosts Irish bands and dancers out near its location by SF Zoo.
2. Pi Day, Friday
- Exploratorium: 10am-5pm
- Puzzle Party: 7pm
Save a few bucks, and visit on Pi Day, which happens on March 14 every year (3.14!). Pizza tossing, a procession, math talks, and free admission to the Exploratorium. Then put on your thinking caps, and join a math and logic puzzle competition at the SoMa StrEat Food Park. You can compete on teams of up to six people.
3. Holi Festival: Friday, 5-7pm

History
Kate O. Sessions
(1857-1940)
Born in San Francisco, Ms. Sessions moved next to Lake Merritt at the age of six, and studied natural science at UC Berkeley. She then left for San Diego in 1883, and began amassing nurseries and growing fields in Coronado, Pacific Beach, and Mission Hills. Her deal with the City of San Diego allowed to her to plant 100 trees annually in Balboa Park and 300 trees annually around the city. She also helped co-found the oldest garden club in southern California. An elementary school and a park both are named after her in the Pacific Beach area.

Charity: Rocky Mountain Wild. This organization focuses on the biological diversity of the Rocky Mountain West. This means monitoring wildlife and native plants, advocating for preservation in development-rich zones, and implementing solutions for wildlife crossing routes. 1. St. Patrick's Day

Another reason to party. Dublin hosts a parade and festival in its civic center, complete with a tea cottage and three stages of Irish music. San Francisco's parade winds down Market Street, while a FiDi block party outside the Royal Exchange features Wonder Bread 5. The Irish Cultural Center hosts Irish bands and dancers out near its location by SF Zoo.
2. Pi Day, Friday
- Exploratorium: 10am-5pm
- Puzzle Party: 7pm
Save a few bucks, and visit on Pi Day, which happens on March 14 every year (3.14!). Pizza tossing, a procession, math talks, and free admission to the Exploratorium. Then put on your thinking caps, and join a math and logic puzzle competition at the SoMa StrEat Food Park. You can compete on teams of up to six people.
3. Holi Festival: Friday, 5-7pm
To commemorate the start of spring, you are to toss bright pigments at those around you. Make sure you wear old clothes!
