Randy's Guide CCCIII (303)

Bay Area Food Pick
The Pelican Inn
10 Pacific Way
Muir Beach, CA 94965
(415) 383-6000

A recent bike ride along winding Highway 1 led me to this isolated British pub, nestled inside a small lodge in rural Marin County. There's an enclosed patio (where I sat) as well as a decor-appropriate interior. You'll find typical food options, such as a lamb-based shepherd's pie, bangers & mash, and fish & chips. Pints of beer are expertly poured. I can't wait to return! 4 stars - 275 reviews

Bay Area Bar Pick
Martuni's
4 Valencia St. (at Market St.)

The dimly lit piano bar runs popular with amateur singers and performers... as well as their admirers. The martinis are adequately strong; my favorite is the raspberry lemon drop. It's centrally located at a good price point and cool ambiance. 4 stars - 573 reviews
