Local News
Santa Clara city voters approved a measure by a 60-40 margin that paves the way for a new stadium housing the San Francisco 49ers. The team spent $4 million to sway the minds of 46,000 registered voters. Change for Change
Charity: The East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse. Founded in 1979, this Oakland nonprofit collects and sells donated materials for artists, teachers, and households (36,000 annual customers). Example items included antique linens, artificial flowers, yarn, and feathers. There are also periodic educational outreach programs that reach 20,000 students per year. www.creativereuse.org

Movies {domestic revenues through June 6}
For the third straight weekend, "Shrek Forever After" was in first place with $25.5 million [4386 theatres; $5,811 per theatre; $183.2 million overall]. The music comedy "Get Him to the Greek" premiered with $17.6 million [2697 theatres; $6,515 per theatre]. The Ashton Kutcher-Katherine Heigl action comedy "Killers" opened with a mild $15.8 million [2859 theatres; $5,539 per theatre]. Comic-strip dog "Marmaduke" tallied $7.4 million [2450 theatres; $3,014 per theatre]. Finally, the sci-fi thriller "Splice" earned just $7.4 million [2450 theatres; $3,014 per theatre].
