Carved your name across three counties
Ground it in with bloody hides
Their broken necks will line the ditch
'Til you stop it

which released its sixth album last year. Neko also tours on her own,
and her 2009 album (which bears this song) was rated #1 on Amazon.com
that year. She performs tonight at Saratoga's Mountain Winery, with
Robyn Hitchcock opening.

News of the Week
The high-energy Grambling State marching band
hit Richmond's Kennedy High for a 90-minute practice in advance of
Saturday's football matchup against Cal. A crowd of about 1500 watched
from the stands.
"You
have the potential to do anything that you put your mind to. I didn't
think that I would be able to do it, balancing classes and everything,
but I've done it and I'm just so happy and I'm proud of myself, as well
as my peers."
-- Jamie Taylor, Grambling band member and Oakland native
"This is giving them another opportunity to say, 'Look, this is what Grambling has to offer. Are you interested?'"
-- Phillip Johnson, Kennedy High principal
"He's going to go to Grambling so he can be on the drum line. He's already been inspired!"
-- Rolanda Hartfield, mother of 8-year-old Jermanie Earnest

After
a day on the trails of Mount Tam, what could be better than some
housemade ice cream? Splurge on a fresh waffle cone with some clever
flavors like vanilla honey lavender, lemon almond, or Mexican chocolate.

Across
the street is the Petaluma behemoth, Lagunita Brewing. Giant patio,
weekend music, big crowds. Petaluma Hills is of the quieter, gentler
variety - it reminds me of so many other smaller batch breweries that
pop up in industrial parks or warehouse districts. You'll find free
nibbles (like Cheez Its) and board games, plus plenty of comfy seating.

Goulding and Train will perform at Justin Herman Plaza. RSVP online for

2. Sand Sculpture Contest (Point Reyes)
Sunday, 9am-3:30pm

3. Kings Mountain Art Fair (Woodside)
Saturday-Monday, 8am-5pm
Yes,
Sausalito is the bigger festival draw over Labor Day weekend, but this
