The Warriors' plan to move to San Francisco for the 2018-19 season continues to gain steam, as City officials are working out issues with Mission Bay residents and employers as well as the Giants.

It was a participant in Tuesday's Dining Out For Life, and handled the massive crush of people admirably. No corkage or Healthy SF charge either, a rarity in today's fee-obsessed service industry.

The Armory

The massive castle-like historic building near Mission and 14th St. opened in 1914 as a replacement to the National Guard's destroyed armory in the Western Addition. The Armory served as the City's primary sports venue for several decades. Once the National Guard moved to Fort Funston in 1976, the building was then used to film Star Wars scenes and to hold rehearsals for the San Francisco Opera. It fell into disrepair and community debates until an online pornography company purchased the building. Today, the public can take $25 90-minute tours.

Underserved Bay Area youths in the 4th-6th grades are given free outdoor education trips at the Optimist Youth Camp, a 100-acre site in San Gregorio. They learn cheese making (and have it for supper), take hikes in the redwoods, explore tidepools, and harvest enough organic vegetables for the evening salad.

The Warriors' plan to move to San Francisco for the 2018-19 season continues to gain steam, as City officials are working out issues with Mission Bay residents and employers as well as the Giants.

It was a participant in Tuesday's Dining Out For Life, and handled the massive crush of people admirably. No corkage or Healthy SF charge either, a rarity in today's fee-obsessed service industry.

The Armory

The massive castle-like historic building near Mission and 14th St. opened in 1914 as a replacement to the National Guard's destroyed armory in the Western Addition. The Armory served as the City's primary sports venue for several decades. Once the National Guard moved to Fort Funston in 1976, the building was then used to film Star Wars scenes and to hold rehearsals for the San Francisco Opera. It fell into disrepair and community debates until an online pornography company purchased the building. Today, the public can take $25 90-minute tours.

Underserved Bay Area youths in the 4th-6th grades are given free outdoor education trips at the Optimist Youth Camp, a 100-acre site in San Gregorio. They learn cheese making (and have it for supper), take hikes in the redwoods, explore tidepools, and harvest enough organic vegetables for the evening salad.
