New Charity: City Slicker Farms. It's a West Oakland-based urban farming organization that grows, distributes, and sells produce in previously empty lots. The group also assists area residents who want to transform their own backyards into gardens.

With weather forecast to warm gradually through the weekend in San Francisco, this looks like a prime opportunity to enjoy an evening at AT&T Park. Register for early entry on to the field.
2. Fillmore Jazz Festival: Saturday-Sunday, 10am-6pm
Over 100,000 typically attend the two-day festival celebrating live jazz on five outdoor stages along Fillmore St., between Jackson and Eddy. Several indoor venues (such as Yoshi's and Calvary Presbyterian) will also be hosting free performances.
