History
Jose de Jesus Noe(1805-1862)
Mr.
Noe was born in Puebla, Mexico, but moved northward to California in
1834 with his wife. They would eventually have three sons. He served as
the final Mexican mayor of Yerba Buena (San Francisco), until the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo changed ownership.
His land grant included Noe Valley, Castro, Glen Park, Diamond Heights,
and St. Francis Wood. Noe Street, which runs from Duboce Triangle to Noe
Valley, is named after him.

pool. The pool then helps build solar energy projects at community
centers. The community centers lease the solar equipment, with the
payments reinvested into the solar funding pool.
