Election Day is one week away on November 3. California permits same-day voter registration, so if you have recently moved without a registration update, you can go into any polling place in your home county to vote provisionally. You must postmark or submit your ballot at a polling place by Election Day.
To recap the Primary Election in June, statewide turnout was 40.8%. This was the best turnout for a non-presidential Primary Election since 1998. In that timeframe, the highest turnout for a non-presidential General Election was about 65%.
Locally, San Francisco turnout was about 50.9%. This was the second-highest turnout for a non-presidential Primary Election since 1998, with only 2018 higher at around 52.6%. That year also had the biggest turnout for a non-presidential General Election at roughly 74.5%.
Through Monday, ballots received across the State - such as through drop boxes, via mail, or at an early voting polling site - have totaled 15.3% of registered voters.
